If you use Printify to sell products in your Big Cartel shop, you will need to create one shipping profile for each print provider and product type.

This guide shows you how Printify shipping works, how to find your print providers, and how to enter accurate shipping rates in Big Cartel.

Before You Start: How Printify Shipping Works

Printify products are fulfilled and shipped by different print providers. Each provider has its own shipping prices and delivery times. Even if you sell several Printify items, these items can ship separately.

To charge buyers accurately at checkout, you will need to enter each provider’s shipping rates into Big Cartel.

Big Cartel combines shipping only when two things are identical across profiles:

1. The same set of rate names
2. The same delivery information in the rate description

If any of these differ, the items will be treated as separate shipments.

For Printify products, this is often correct, because different providers ship on their own.

Step 1: Find Your Print Provider in Printify

You will first need to identify which print provider is used for each product.

To find this in Printify:

1. Log in to your Printify account
2. Go to My Products
3. Print Provider name will be displayed right under your product name.
4. Examples: Airwave, The Dream Junction, Subliminator

Step 2: Create a Shipping Profile for Each Provider and Product Type

You will create one shipping profile per provider and per product type.

Examples:

• Airwave Shirts
• Airwave Hoodies
• Dream Junction Shirts
• Dream Junction Hoodies

This keeps pricing accurate and avoids incorrect merges at checkout.

Step 3: Add Regions for Each Profile

In each shipping profile, add all regions that your provider supports.

Common regions include:

• USA
• Canada
• Everywhere else

Step 4: Add Rates Within Each Region

Inside each region, add one rate.

Each rate contains:

• A rate name
• A delivery description
• The first item and additional item prices

Important

To prevent Printify shipments from different providers from being merged together by mistake, include the provider name in the rate name.

Example rate names:

• Standard (via Airwave)
• Standard (via Dream Junction)

The buyer will see this at checkout.

Matching delivery information

The delivery time you enter must match the Printify estimate.

This also helps prevent merging across providers or product types.

For example:

• 3 to 8 business days
• 4 to 14 business days

If two profiles use the same rate name but different delivery descriptions, they will not combine at checkout.

Step 5: Copy Rates from Printify into Big Cartel

Here is an example using the Airwave provider.

Shipping profile name: Airwave Shirts

Region: USA

• Rate name: Standard (Airwave)
• Description: 3 to 8 business days
• First item: 5.00
• Additional item: 2.50

Region: Canada

• Rate name: Standard Shipping (Airwave)
• Description: Shipping up to 4 to 14 business days
• First item: 14.40
• Additional item: 5.00

Region: Everywhere

• Rate name: Standard Shipping (Airwave)
• Description: Shipping up to 4 to 14 business days
• First item: 14.40
• Additional item: 5.00

Shipping profile name: Airwave Hoodies

Region: USA

• Rate name: Standard Shipping (Airwave)
• Description: Shipping up to 3 to 8 business days
• First item: 8.80
• Additional item: 5.30

Region: Canada

• Rate name: Standard Shipping (Airwave)
• Description: Shipping up to 4 to 14 business days
• First item: 18.80
• Additional item: 10.00

Region: International

• Rate name: Standard Shipping (Airwave)
• Description: Shipping up to 4 to 14 business days
• First item: 18.80
• Additional item: 10.00

Repeat this for each provider and product type you use.

Step 6: What Buyers See at Checkout

Depending on your setup, these outcomes are expected:

If profiles share the same rate names and the same delivery descriptions

Big Cartel combines them into one shipment and totals the shipping correctly.

If profiles use different rate names or different delivery descriptions

Big Cartel treats those items as separate shipments and shows separate shipping charges.
