• Price: Gift Up! charges 3.49% per gift card with no monthly fees. Some features like embedding a gift card checkout and creating and accepting discount codes on your shop requires a Big Cartel paid plan.

Limitations

• Separate checkout: The Gift Up! checkout to sell gift cards is a separate checkout from your Big Cartel shop. It is only able to sell your gift cards, and cannot be combined checkout with your other shop items. Adding this embedded checkout on a custom page requires a paid plan with Big Cartel.

• Zero-dollar orders are not possible: At this time, Big Cartel does not support zero-dollar orders. This means that while your gift cards (via discount codes) are eligible for use on any order, the order value exceeds the gift card value. It is important if you sell gift cards that you make this clear to your customers.

• Full redemptions required: Since gift cards are accepted as discount codes, the gift card must be used in a single transaction and cannot be partially redeemed. It's not possible to use part of a value of a gift card across different transactions.

Heads up! It's best to think of Gift Up! gift cards as coupons for your shop vs a traditional gift card. This will also help you craft your messaging to your customers in the value of the "gift card" to ensure you state, for example, that a minimum purchase is required. (e.g. "$25 gift card towards a purchase of $30 or more!")

Setup

1. Create Gift Up! account

2. Go to the Gift Up! integrations page and find Big Cartel and tap on "Connect"

3. Once prompted, grant access to your Big Cartel shop

4. You'll be returned back to Gift Up! where you should head to their Big Cartel installation page to finish setup.

5. Choose "I have a paid plan in Big Cartel" and follow the instructions in setting up your custom gift card checkout on a custom page in your shop.

Tip: When you sell a gift card in your Gift Up! checkout, they will automatically create a discount code matching the gift card balance.
