We recommend you download a copy of your theme code if you’ve made any changes to the Advanced Theme Code HTML or CSS. With a saved copy of your theme code, you can work on new customizations or even experiment with a new theme, and you’ll have the security of a saved copy of your current customized code to reference at any time.
Steps
- Log in at app.bigcartel.com
- Click Shop settings > Shop designers
- Select the Code tab
- Under the Advanced template code section, scroll down and click Download your theme code
- To add your saved code back into your shop, open your downloaded theme files, copy the relevant code, and paste it into the corresponding section of the Advanced template code area (for example, edits to products.html go in the Products page section)
- When you're finished, click Done and then Publish
Need to revert? You can restore a previous version of your template if you ever forget to download your code before making changes. Learn more about backing up and restoring themes and settings.
What Gets Downloaded?
Downloading your theme exports all the code from the Advanced Theme Code section—including HTML and CSS customizations.
Note: Any scripts or tags added to the Integration Code section will not be included in your download. This is because that code persists across theme changes and can only be removed manually or by downgrading from a paid plan to our free Gold plan.
