Made by artists, for artists

We believe if you give a motivated and creative person enough freedom they can do amazing things. We believe a group of these people can change the world. We believe a lovingly crafted product can thrive in a world of mass-produced junk.

Work with a passionate group of makers, where the best idea wins. We trust you to do great work and manage your own time.

Work anywhere

We’ve got beautiful offices in downtown Salt Lake City, and can help relocate you. Or, maybe you already love where you live, that’s cool, you can stay right there.

Generous PTO

We encourage you to take about 4 weeks off per year. If you’re sick or something comes up, take the day off. If you’re going on vacation, give us a heads up.

Stay healthy

We’re committed to a solid work–life balance to keep your mind healthy, and medical, dental, life, and vision insurance for the rest.

Family leave

We have your back when life-changing events hit close to home. You can just focus on your personal life, knowing your job and income are secure.

Vacation reimbursement

Our time-off policy isn’t all talk. You’ll get reimbursed for qualified travel expenses when taking off from work and unplugging for a full week.

Charitable match

We’ll match your donations, dollar for dollar, to qualifying non-profit organizations focusing on art, culture, science, or technology.

401(k) with match

We’ll help you build your retirement nest egg, for when you’re ready to hang up your mouse.

Funded personal projects

We offer our Employee Art Grant to invest in your creativity. You come up with an idea and we fund it.

Keep learning

We’ll cover any books you’d like to read or conferences you’d like to attend that will help you do your job better.

Face time

Anyone can fly out at any time to meet up with their team on a project, and we bring everyone together a few times per year.

The best tools

Great artists need great tools, and a MacBook Pro (or Air) with a 27" Thunderbolt display should do the job nicely.

Build something

Work with a passionate group of makers, where the best idea wins. We trust you to do great work and manage your own time.

Indie Fest is Big Cartel’s annual company retreat where we relax, get to know each other, and plan for the year ahead. In 2016, the whole team met in Austin, TX for a week of good times and a little hard work.

Customer Support

More info

We’re looking for someone who loves helping and teaching people. Our day to day includes communicating with customers via in-app messaging and email. We handle all kinds of questions that come up, from troubleshooting technical issues to the ins and outs of running a business online. As a small, tight-knit crew, supporting each other is also a top priority - we share tips, advice and assistance across the team where it’s needed, so we can all get better at what we do and provide great help to our customers.

While helping our customers and each other directly every day is our bread and butter, we also report bugs, collect customer feedback, take part in QA (quality assurance) on new features before they’re released, write help docs and guides, improve our own internal documentation, and work on other projects that use our individual skills to help our users in new ways. So be sure to let us know what those skills are!

This is a full-time and salaried position that includes paid family leave, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus a 401(k) and our minimum 4-week PTO policy. Our headquarters are in Salt Lake City, Utah, but you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States (sorry, no international option at the moment).

Schedule-wise: we’re looking for someone who can work in the support queue from about 9am-6pm EST Monday through Friday. But since we have coverage throughout the full week, extra credit if you are able to work at least one weekend day in exchange for a weekday as part of your regular schedule.

Skills-wise: bonus points if you’ve got past experience working in online customer support. Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Liquid is also a nice bonus, but not required.

We also feel it’s important to point out the obvious here: there’s a SERIOUS lack of diversity in our industry and it really bugs us. That’s why we’re doing everything our small company can do to change that. From personal, considerate hiring, to a solid stack of benefits, we hope to continue to build a company whose culture promotes acceptance and embraces how rewarding it is to work for artists of all types all over the world.

While we definitely want your sharp skills, we’re specifically looking for a great teammate who values creativity, respect, and an honest desire to support artists over an impeccable resum√©. If you’re hesitating to apply for ANY reason, don’t. We’re excited to hear from you!
