For a long time, The Good Twin has been our go-to shop for clever cards in the most sunshine-y colors. We thought it was time we got to know owner Katie Wilson a little better.
###Where are you from?
I live in Los Angeles, California, by way of Portland, Oregon (my hometown) and Minneapolis, Minnesota (where I went to school).
###It doesn’t seem like “business owner” or “artist" quite captures your role. How do you describe what you do?
I am an illustrator, designer, and hand letterer. I run The Good Twin as my full time job, and it makes me happy every day to make my living by designing stationery and paper products.
###What sort of things do you sell in your shop?
I sell greeting cards, enamel pins, notepads, and prints. All of the products in my shop are illustrated by me, from top to bottom - no fonts here!
###What made you choose the Mail Call theme for your guide?
Stationery has always been a passion of mine - nothing makes me happy like receiving a hand written note. The whole process is personal, from selecting a card to seeing a friend's handwriting on the page, rather than in the form of an email or a text (though I must say, emoji have really added some jazz to that format). I've had a lifelong love affair with planners and notebooks, and have collected them since I was a kid. Basically, this gift guide was a great excuse to highlight some of the makers I regularly buy from!
###Where can people find you?
You can see my full line on my Big Cartel site. I share a lot of my designs, my process, and my home / work life (read: pug photos) on my Instagram account - that's probably the best way to get to know me!
