Make Something is a short documentary series by Big Cartel on working, living, and making it as an artist.
Volume 1 - Holden Mesk
Holden Mesk is an artist from Asheville, North Carolina. He makes illustrations and collages with a distinct, nostalgia-inducing ‘90s vibe. Save a few quarters for the arcade after the movie.
Learn more about Holden in our interview with him from last year: Holden Mesk Keeps It Weird
Volume 2 - Kashmir Thompson
Kashmir Thompson is an artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. You can find her iconic designs of black culture most often in paintings and on apparel, including her ADW tee which was worn by Issa Rae on HBO'S Insecure.
We first met Kashmir two years ago and have been obsessed with her style, quality, and work ethic ever since: How Kashmir Thompson Developed Her Style
Volume 3 - Eric Nyffeler
While playing in bands, Eric Nyffeler started designing gig posters and fell in love with the process. Based in Portland, Oregon, you'll find his fingerprints all over work from high-profile brands like Nike, Airbnb, and NPR to Grammy Award-winning musicians including The Roots, The Black Keys, and St. Vincent.
We chatted with Eric to get to know more about his story: Eric Nyffeler's Path From Music to Design
Volume 4 - Alison Jean Cole
Alison Jean Cole came to jewelry making by accident. What started as a childhood hobby became so much more after joining the Mt. Hood Rock Club, a group she says has a reputation for being ornery. That experience helped this self-taught jewelry maker learn how to make vibrant pieces that wouldn't be out of place on your body or in an art gallery.

Volume 5 - Lane Walkup
Lane Walkup has been one of our favorite artists for awhile now. She transforms rough metal into flowing pieces. Her unique mix of flair and form is unforgettable and her handcrafted work can serve as everything from jewelry to large-scale installations at a resort.
